Volunteers Are Always Welcome and Are Needed!

Volunteer Today

As a Girl Scout volunteer, you’ll introduce girls to new experiences that show them they're capable of more than they ever imagined.

You'll be their cheerleader, guide and mentor, helping them develop skills and confidence that will last long after the meeting is over. Imagine the smiles, the excitement, the memories - those are the moments you'll share at Girl Scouts.

There are so many ways you can volunteer, from troop leader to series volunteer to helping at an event. The choices are plentiful:

  • Troop Leader / Assistant Leader:  Partner with girls who meet regularly as they share amazing experiences and make a difference in their community and the world.
  • Series: Love the environment? Building a business? Like marine biology? Meet with girls 6 to 8 times sharing your passion and knowledge in a way that fits your schedule.
  • Events: Have high energy but limited availability? Choose your favorite topics, and help girls unleash their potential.
  • You can even help within your troop! The pictures of our local events, like the one above were taken by Girl Scout volunteer, Cara McKinley!

Be the role model she'll always remember. Start the volunteer application process today!

Volunteer Opportunities

Girl Scouts exists for girls, but it exists because of volunteers. By giving your time and talent, you can make it possible for girls to build character and skills for success in the real world. Research shows the influence one caring adult has on a child will last a lifetime. No matter what your interests, age or amount of time you can offer, Girl Scouts needs your help to provide opportunities for girls to build their courage, confidence and character. We will match your interests with the needs of girls, and work around your busy schedule. Training is provided for all volunteer positions.

For example, you can choose to:

Work Directly with Girls In a Variety of Settings
  • Be a leader/advisor to girls or offer to help a leader/advisor
  • Design and/or facilitate a program or event for girls
  • Share a skill, career or special interest with girls

Reach out to the Community
  • Help with public relations efforts
  • Suggest and coordinate a service project
  • Speak about Girl Scouts to community groups

Types of Volunteers
Following are a few of the primary ways you can volunteer to work directly with girls.

Girl Scout Troop or Series Volunteer: Have an immediate impact on the lives of girls in your community by serving as a role model, mentor, friend and leader. You can develop a  variety of skills through training and explore new adventures. Work with girls year round in a troop or for six to eight sessions in a series.
  • Troop – Year long, long term position working directly with girls
  • Series  – 6 – 8 sessions working directly with girls
  • Troop Committee Member: Serve as a positive adult role model by providing direct support to the Girl Scout Leader to plan, carry out and achieve the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Service Team/Unit Volunteers:  Support the delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls and adults within the local community by extending membership, providing direct support to members, educating the community about Girl Scouts and acting as a communication center for Girl Scouts.

Volunteering with Girl Scouts is a rewarding experience as you will have many opportunities to help and guide girls in your community to develop the courage, confidence and character to become our future leaders.

Flexibility is the key for all Girl Scout volunteers. Whether you have an hour, a day, a weekend, the energy you share with Girl Scouts will instill in girls confidence that will last a lifetime. We are looking for volunteers who represent the diversity of the world we live in – women and men of a variety of age and people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.

As a volunteer, not only do you get to share your knowledge and experiences with girls and adults, but you have the opportunity to learn new skills. Our volunteers are essential in ensuring we continue to provide a quality, safe opportunity for all girls. Careful selection and placement of volunteers is a priority for our council.
